Voltra LLC provides payment software to car dealerships. When a dealership needs to collect a payment from a customer, or send money to a customer, for a vehicle deal, the dealership can use Voltra to send the customer a secure payment link. The link can go by email, by text message, or both.
Texts come from Voltra's toll-free number, +1 (844) 957-1299, and name the dealership that sent them.
What the texts are for
Texts are transactional. Each text carries one payment link for one deal that the customer is part of.
Voltra does not send marketing or promotional texts.
A customer gets one text when the dealership sends the link. A customer gets another text only if the dealership sends the link again, for example because the customer asked for it or the contact details changed.
How the customer gives consent
Consent is verbal and is collected in person or by phone, by the dealership staff member who handles the deal. The staff member asks the customer before they send any text:
Script
"We can text you a secure link to complete this payment. Is it OK to text you at this number? Message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time."
Example conversation:
Staff
"To finish the payment for your vehicle, we can email you a secure link, text it to you, or both. Is it OK to text you at (555) 123-4567? Message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time to stop these texts."
Customer
"Yes, text it to me."
Staff
Ticks the consent box in Voltra, chooses "Text", and sends the link.
If the customer says no, the staff member sends the link by email only.
How consent is recorded
In Voltra, the staff member cannot send a payment link by text until they tick this box:
☐ The customer agreed to get this payment link by text message.
The Voltra payment screen with the phone number field and the consent box.
When the box is ticked, Voltra stores, on the payment record, the phone number, the name of the staff member who confirmed consent, and the date and time. The dealership and Voltra keep this record with the payment.
